“Write, write, write ’til your fingers bleed”

Chromatics began at the Mill Theatre, playing to full houses and excerpts of the show were seen at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Other Palace, London.

Chromatics tells the story of James, who is trying to create his first play, while Al is ready to fly the nest for the big city and Kate is trying to hold it all together. This is a story about graduating, dreaming big and slowly realising that “it” might not happen, at least not as planned. Aspirations swiftly dashed, plans pulverised and unexpected ultimatums, we follow a group of young Irish friends as they journey through their new unknown using a contemporary Irish score.

Chromatics gives a voice to those often left unheard in our communities, performed by a cast of ten emerging Musical Theatre performers, this ensemble piece pulls together the stories of young Irish people in a multitude of real-life complicated scenarios against the backdrop of a Dublin rebuilding itself. This is a new musical for our times which explores the myriad of challenges facing the Irish youth today, touching thoughtfully on sexuality, relationships, emigration, the career life and creating art.
